Leslie Channel: Confederate Articles
Leslie Channel’s present endeavor, Confederate Articles, is a self-reflective, multidisciplinary approach incorporating elements of surface alteration, fashion, and photography. It explores and challenges notions of cultural essentialism with the goal of mirroring, transforming, and expanding the visual, and perhaps experienced, realities of those who come into contact with it.
Leslie is making a complete set of clothes based on the shapes of the confederate flag which she will wear for a year. First, she is making her undergarments.
From Leslie’s blog, confederate | articles:
“I churned out half a dozen undergarments last week, the pieces I will be wearing during my year. It’s so hard not to put these things on immediately, they are so comfy.
Several people have commented on how masculine my underwear designs, from color choice to cut, are. I don’t mind this at all. I will be adding some feminine touches to the next set I’m making.”
